You Are Fencing

You're competitive but not brutally so. You compete to make yourself better.

You find having an opponent to be challenging and rewarding.

You are fierce when you're in a competition, but you don't wish your rivals any real harm.

Opening Ceremonies drinking game? [09 Aug 2008|12:02am]
any mention of lack of alphabetical order
saying "nonsensical"
"birds nest"
any lengthy shot (more than 10 seconds) of flagholder with flag in face
"marco.." "polo..."
the word "popular"
mention of the openness of china (2 shots)
"a tribute to china"
"8/8/08"
"another country that has never won a medal"
"our host country, china" (like we could forget with 'Beijing' plastered everywhere.)

Your result for The Harry Potter Husband Test...

Mrs. Bill Weasley

You like guys who are cool. And not cool in that fake, dicky way, but actually cool. He's so cool that they couldn't find any actor to adequately portray him, so they decided to just leave him out of the movies rather than risk not doing justice to his coolness. He's like the Chuck Norris of Harry Potter: plain freaking awesome. When Voldemort says "You-Know-Who", he's talking about Bill Weasley.

anyone looking for a mattress? [23 Jul 2008|12:38pm]
i bought an ikea mattress (sultan fageras) and while i like it, my plan was to use it as a spare bed in our downstairs room. but it takes up 1/2 the room (it's a queen) and while my futon frame folds, the mattress itself doesn't. paid $138, would like $120 for it. it rolls up, and i'd be willing to deliver it to philly.

very firm, polyurethane foam. sat on breifly and cars played on it, and i think the cat has picked it as his new sleeping spot. looks brand new aside from cathair (which i will remove.)

but Kentucky barely counts, as i've only been in the airport.

77. The MP checkpoint is not an Imperial Stormtrooper roadblock, so I should not tell them “You don’t need to see my identification, these are not the droids you are looking for.”

Your result for The Who Would You Be in 1400 AD Test...

The Prioress

You scored 24% Cardinal, 56% Monk, 53% Lady, and 43% Knight!

You are a moral person and are also highly intellectual. You like your solitude but are also kind and helpful to those around you. Guided by a belief in the goodness of mankind you will likely be christened a saint after your life is over.

You scored high as both the Lady and the Monk. You can try again to get a more precise description of either the Monk or the lady, or you can be happy that you're an individual.

for [info]elfling519 [08 Jul 2008|10:15am]
herbs. small, hardcover, full color, detailed pictures of each herb. has family, species, and local name, and uses along with parts used. has info on making detoctions and harvesting etc. good book, but for me annoyingly arranged - trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals. good if you know what you're looking for, or trying to identify.

herbs. small, soft cover, full color. more on using and recipes for making stuff, less info on actual herbs. what's there is *really* good, and fantastic pictures for identification of parts. organized alphabetically. contains some historical uses.

the herb book paperback sized. line drawings only, practically useless. good for dosage for specific ailments. not the first one i reach for, but apparantly artichoke is considered an aphrodesiac. also has a section with tonic recipes, cross reference ailment to herb thing, and a bit on natural dyeing. good if you know what you have and don't need to identify anything.

Home Herbal large hardcover. this one ... is weird. it focuses on making, using, and storage of the remedies. has suggestions for tonics based on age. i think the only herbal info in the book are the ones used in the recipes. overall not bad, just not a comprehensive reference.
